About Vivian Law Firm PLC
Our Bankruptcy Expertise
Matt Vivian has spent his entire legal career, going on three decades, in one area of law: helping people and small businesses get out from under debt they cannot repay. He earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1992 and his law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1995, and has practiced bankruptcy law in metro Detroit ever since.
That focus is deliberate. Bankruptcy is a specialized corner of federal law with its own courts, its own trustees, and its own local practices, and the outcome of a case often turns on details that a general practice attorney sees twice a year and a bankruptcy attorney sees twice a week. Matt has represented both debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 proceedings, which means that when he prepares your filing, he knows exactly how the other side reads it.
The most rewarding part of the practice has never changed: watching a client walk out of a discharge hearing with the weight gone. People arrive at this office convinced their situation is uniquely shameful. It never is, and it is almost never as hopeless as it feels.
